Health, Safety and Environment Manager St. Albert 2073515

We are looking for Health,Safety Environment Manager who is accountable for directing and coordinating day-to-day operational activities in the HSE department, and ensures operations budget is managed effectively. The Health,Safety Environment Manager will recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on the recent safety audit results, and ensure that the policies and programs meet legislated requirements. Responsibilities will include training employees in safety management best practices, assisting with hazard identification and the development of safe work culture and procedures. The HSE Manager will identify training and development needs in the area of the safety. This will be a senior management level position reporting to the president of the company.
Responsibilities / Duties for Health,Safety Environment Manager:

Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices

Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture

Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment

Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance

Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities

Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes

Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development

Order and maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment

Knowledge and Qualifications for Health and Safety Manager:

Knowledge of adult training techniques and practices including needs assessments, development learning goals and objectives, selection of learning media, developing training materials, evaluating effective of training and record keeping of all programs

Knowledge of leadership and management practices and techniques

Knowledge of the companies, service promise, services, capabilities, policies, procedures and practices to effectively manage

Requirements for Health and Safety Manager :

Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma

7+ years of related experience specially transportation industry preferred

Proven experience achieving and maintaining COR

Proven experience auditing, identifying concerns, and increasing Health / Safety Standards within an established business.

Understand and have complete knowledge of all Federal, Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules

Experience working within a Unionized and non union environment

Supervisory experience preferred; specifically, experience supervising/training a driver workforce Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and transportation related software

Advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals

Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others

Demonstrated ability to present and explain key safety requirements .

Motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, and positive outlook critical to the position

Strong time management and prioritization skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders

CRSP or CHSC designation preferred
